Alex Hernandez claimed the biggest title of his career on Sunday, winning the Brasilia Open ITF World Tennis Tour M15 tournament with a straight-sets victory over Brazil’s Nicolas Oliveira at the Arena Mane Garrincha.

The 26-year-old Mexican, seeded No. 2 and currently ranked world No. 457, defeated the Rio de Janeiro native 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 36 minutes to secure the first professional singles title of his career.

“I’m very happy with the victory and to win my first professional title,” Hernandez said. “Today’s final was very tough. My opponent played incredibly well and we showed a great level of tennis.”

Despite the defeat, Oliveira can look back on a breakthrough week. The 20-year-old, currently ranked No. 1035 in the ATP Rankings, achieved the best result of his professional career since capturing the ITF M15 title in Ribeirao Preto at the end of 2025.

On his way to the final, Oliveira upset top seed Gonzalo Villanueva of Argentina in the semifinals. Although he finished runner-up in both singles and doubles, the Brazilian was pleased with his overall performance.

“I played at a good level throughout the week and had some strong matches. Of course, I would have liked to leave with the victory today,” Oliveira said. “In doubles, unfortunately, we couldn’t play because of Pedro’s injury. I hope he recovers soon and we will keep working towards more good results on the tour.”

In the doubles event, Oliveira and Pedro Rodrigues were forced to withdraw from the final after Rodrigues suffered an injury during the warm-up. As a result, the title was awarded to the Brazilian team of Rafael Tosetto and Luka Ono.
