MEERBUSCH/STARNBERG, June 19, 2026
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has honored the Kirschbaum International men’s tournament in Meerbusch, Germany with the prestigious Tournament Recognition Award 2025, further enhancing the reputation of the event and its venue on the banks of the Rhine.
The award follows a player vote conducted in May, in which competitors ranked the tournament among the best ITF events worldwide. The recognition highlights the exceptional quality of the tournament week held last September at the Sport and Tennis Resort TeReMeer in Meerbusch.
Players particularly praised the venue’s modern facilities, impeccably maintained courts, the on-site Lifeletix fitness and athletic training center, the welcoming family atmosphere, and the highly professional organization throughout the event.
The distinction once again underlines TeReMeer’s status as a premier destination for tennis events of all levels.
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this award,” said Tournament Director Julia Mackowiak and tournament organizer Marc Raffel. “A huge thank you goes to our long-standing partners and sponsors, as well as our fantastic M.A.R.A. team for their continued support. Without them, staging a tournament at this level would not be possible.”
While the award is still fresh, preparations in Meerbusch are already well underway for the next major tennis event. The spotlight now turns to the Kirschbaum Meerbusch Open, another international highlight at the TeReMeer venue. As a long-standing fixture on the ITF World Tennis Tour calendar, the tournament continues to attract ambitious professional players from around the globe.
Scheduled to take place from August 30 to September 5, 2026, the tournament will once again offer a total prize purse of $30,000 and 30 valuable ATP Ranking points to the champion.
Events such as the Kirschbaum Meerbusch Open play a vital role in the development of Germany’s next generation of tennis players, providing an important stepping stone toward the ATP Tour. Rising talents including Justin Engel, Max Schoenhaus, Niels McDonald and Jamie Mackenzie have all made significant progress in recent years and regularly use Meerbusch as a platform to showcase their potential. Tournament organizer Marc Raffel highlighted their development, noting that “all of the boys have developed exceptionally well recently and have delivered performances that have attracted attention,” setting the stage for another week of exciting matches and new success stories.
