TORONTO, July 8, 2026 (Tennis Canada Media Release)
Tennis Canada announced the player field for the 2026 edition of the Winnipeg National Bank Challenger. The tournament will span eight days, with qualifying matches beginning on July 19 and the final match taking place on July 26. The Winnipeg National Bank Challenger has been a stop on the ATP Challenger Tour since 2016, celebrating 10 action-packed years in 2026.
“As we celebrate the 10 years of exciting tennis at the Winnipeg National Bank Challenger, we’re thrilled to welcome another outstanding field of players to Manitoba,” said Ryan Borczon, Senior Director of Professional and National Events at Tennis Canada. “With five Top 200 players competing, the return of defending champion Liam Draxl, and emerging talent from across the globe, fans can expect a week of high-level tennis. We’re looking forward to seeing who will make their mark in Winnipeg this year.”
The main draw features five players inside the Top 200, who will make appearances at the National Bank Tennis MB Hub at West St. Paul. Among them is Canadian and reigning Winnipeg Challenger champion Liam Draxl. Draxl, seeded fifth, is currently ranked 158th in the world and will look to defend his 2025 title and capture his first of the year. The top seed is held by Englishman Toby Samuel, who is fresh off a semi-finals run on grass in Eastbourne last month which earned him a career-high ranking of 123.
Second-seed August Holmgren of Denmark will look for continued Canadian success, with his only other appearance in the country to date being a title run at the 2025 Granby National Bank Championships. Rounding out the Top 5 are Tristan Schoolkate of Australia (No. 3 seed) and Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki (No. 4 seed), with the latter coming off a deep run at Wimbledon, where he fought through qualifiers before falling in the Round of 16 to World No.1 Jannik Sinner.
