The fields for the 2026 Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup are taking shape ahead of the combined event. Just days before the tournament begins, the organisers, in cooperation with the German Tennis Federation (DTB), have announced the wildcards for the main draws and qualifying competitions. At both the ATP Challenger 75 and World Tennis Tour W50 events, the majority of the invitations have gone to promising German youngsters.
In the men’s draw, Max Schoenhaus, Jamie Mackenzie and local favourite Mika Petkovic have received main-draw wildcards. Schoenhaus made headlines on the junior circuit last year by reaching the French Open final. The 18-year-old also got his first taste of playing at the Rothenbaum in May, when he competed at the Hamburg Open.
Mackenzie is currently one of the DTB’s most in-form young players. Just last week, the 18-year-old reached the final of the Bonn Open. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the ITF junior world rankings. For Petkovic, the Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup will be a genuine home event, with the Hamburg native representing the Club an der Alster.
Niklas Guttau, Richard Antoni, Tim Handel and Mariano Dedura-Palomero have been awarded wildcards for the men’s qualifying competition, which begins on Sunday.
On the women’s side, Victoria Brand has received a main-draw wildcard for the ITF W50. The northern German recently impressed at the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open, a WTA 250 event, where she won a qualifying-round match and made a strong impression overall. Sonja Zhenikova, Lola Giza and Francesca Parcelli have also been awarded main-draw wildcards.
In qualifying, Milena Steinkamp, Sophie Greiner and Polina Skliar will have the opportunity to earn their places in the main draw. Two talented Hamburg players, Johanna Silva and Maja Michna, will also compete in qualifying.
“With the allocation of the wildcards, we want to specifically support young talents and give them the opportunity to showcase themselves at international level. At the same time, we are delighted to introduce the Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup audience to so many exciting players,” said tournament director Björn Kroll.
The Hamburg Ladies & Gents Cup will take place from August 9–16 at the Rothenbaum in Hamburg. Admission is free throughout the tournament.
