CURITIBA/STARNBERG, October 3, 2026
Brazil has secured a representative in the title match of the Campeonato Internacional de Tenis de Curitiba, with Pedro Boscardin and Gustavo Heide set to meet in an all-Brazilian semi-final on Saturday at the Graciosa Country Club. The ATP Challenger 75 offers US$107,000 in prize money, with the champion also earning 75 valuable ATP Ranking points.
Boscardin booked his place in the last four after overcoming fellow Brazilian Guto Miguel in a closely contested three-set battle. The Sao Paulo native prevailed 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, maintaining his composure after Miguel fought back to level the match.
“Some points came down to experience, but I think it was more about my style of play, being solid and fighting for every point. In the second set, there was a moment when he was playing really well and managed to close it out, but I stayed there,” Boscardin said. “The crowd, which I thought would be more on his side, was actually pretty much split and that helped me. I think the affection I have for Curitiba since last year’s final brought some of that support.”
Boscardin will now face Heide, who defeated Argentina’s Lautaro Midon 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 43 minutes. Heide controlled the opening set and then had to withstand a strong response from Midon in the second before closing out the match.
“Difficult matches are typical when you play good players. That’s what happened in the second set, but I managed to stay in control and close it out. I’m happy about that,” Heide said. “It will be tough against Boscardin as well. We know each other well. We played in Campinas this year and it was difficult. It’s always tough, and we are both having a good tournament here in Curitiba. We’ll see.”
The head-to-head record between the two Brazilians stands at 3-3, although Heide has won their last two meetings.
The second semi-final will feature an Argentina-Chile clash. Guido Justo advanced after defeating compatriot Gonzalo Villanueva 6-2, 6-4.
Standing between Justo and a place in the final is second seed Tomas Barrios Vera of Chile. The former Top 100 player overcame Brazil’s Matheus Pucinelli in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.
“I really enjoy playing in Brazil, at Challengers and ATP tournaments, and I’m happy to be back and playing in Curitiba,” Barrios Vera said. “I’m happy to be in a semi-final after such a long time. The last time was in Concepción in February, so I’m pleased to have won three matches in a row again.”
