Lloyd Harris produced a superb comeback to lift the trophy at the Jingshan Open on Sunday, overcoming Italy’s Mattia Bellucci1-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) in a thrilling final.
The sixth-seeded South African enjoyed a strong run through the draw, winning five matches on his way to the title. Harris began his campaign with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory over Alexis Galarneau in the opening round. He then defeated France’s Luka Pavlovic 6-2, 6-3 in the second round before overcoming US-American Andre Ilagan 7-5, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
The semi-final against No. 7 seed Alex Bolt proved to be Harris’ toughest test. Bolt took the opening set 7-5, but Harris fought back to win the second-set tie-break 7-6(2). Bolt then retired due to a right leg injury, sending Harris into the final.
Te world No. 125 capitalized on two of his three break-point chances and saved two match points in the championship match to secure victory in two hours and 19 minutes.

Harris earned his 10th ATP Challenger Tour career title, his fourth of the season after Soma Bay, Tenerife and Brownsburg. The 29-year-old Capte Town native pocketed $26,130 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
The ATP Challenger 100 was played on hard courts in Jingshan from September 29 to October 4, with total prize money of US$177,000. Jingshan is a city in Hubei Province in central China, located in a region known for its lush landscapes, mountains and rich agricultural traditions. The city combines a quieter, more traditional Chinese atmosphere with modern development and is surrounded by scenic countryside. Jingshan is also known for its cultural heritage and outdoor attractions, making it an interesting destination away from China’s major metropolitan centres.
