World Tennis Media Release, October 21, 2026
Coco Gauff, Maja Chwalinska and Belinda Bencic are among the stars set to compete at the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Play-offs.
A total of 65 players have been nominated to represent their nations across seven ties that will take place on 20-22 November.
Gauff will lead USA against Hungary in Delray Beach, Florida as the Americans bid to return to the Qualifiers after a surprise defeat to Belgium in April this year. Fellow Grand Slam singles champion Madison Keys is also in the American team, while Hungary are led by world No. 75 Anna Bondar.
Roland Garros runner-up Chwalinska, who won her first Tour-level title at Wuhan on Sunday, will spearhead Poland’s team for a home clash with Sweden, while Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Bencic is Switzerland’s top player for an away tie against Thailand.
Other stars named in their nations’ squads include Bianca Andreescu (Canada), Kimberly Birrell (Australia), Diane Parry (France) and Lanlana Tararudee (Thailand). Nations can make up to three changes to their squads until one day prior to the event start date.
The seven winning nations from the Play-offs will compete in the 2027 Qualifiers – meaning that a victory in the Play-offs next month could be a first step towards being crowned world champions next year. Teams who lose in the Play-offs will compete in the three Regional Group I events in 2027.
Each Play-off tie will consist of two singles matches on day one, with the doubles match followed by two reverse singles matches on day two. This format was first used in the Billie Jean King Cup in this year’s Qualifiers, further aligning the competition’s format with the Davis Cup by Generali. All live matches in the Play-offs will be played as best-of-three tie-break sets.
The 2026 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals took place in Shenzhen, China, P.R. in September, with Czechia defeating Ukraine in the final to claim their 12th Billie Jean King Cup title.
