Alexander Zverev will remain a familiar face at the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN for years to come. The 29-year-old German has extended his contract with the traditional ATP 500 tournament in Halle, Westphalia, through 2030, underlining the strong bond between one of the leading figures in German tennis and the grass-court event.

The announcement coincides with a landmark moment in Zverev’s career, as the Hamburg native officially takes over the No. 1 position in the ATP Rankings. He becomes only the second German player after Boris Becker to reach the top of the men’s world rankings and the 30th player in ATP ranking history to achieve the milestone.

“Alexander Zverev and the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN have built a relationship over many years. We are delighted that we can now continue this successful partnership through 2030. Sascha is one of the defining personalities in international tennis and an absolute figurehead for our tournament,” said Ralf Weber, tournament director of the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN and managing director of OWL Sport & Event GmbH & Co. KG.

“That he is reaffirming his long-term commitment to Halle on the very day he reaches the top of the world rankings for the first time makes this moment even more special for us. We are proud to welcome him back in the years ahead.”

Sven Wortmann, managing director of OWL Sport & Event GmbH & Co. KG, also welcomed the extension.

“Alexander Zverev is an outstanding ambassador for German tennis and represents world-class quality, ambition and passion. His journey to the top of the rankings is impressive and demonstrates his exceptional sporting ability,” Wortmann said.

“With this contract extension through 2030, we are sending a clear signal of continuity and our ambition to continue presenting world-class tennis to fans in Halle. We are delighted to continue this journey with Sascha and to have him as one of the major names at our tournament in the coming years.”

By securing Zverev’s long-term commitment, the TERRA WORTMANN OPEN are reinforcing their ambition to remain among the leading and most attractive grass-court tournaments on the ATP Tour. Attracting international top players, investing in the infrastructure of the heristo-arena and continually enhancing the overall experience for spectators remain key pillars of the tournament’s strategy.
