Jan-Lennard Struff is the man of the week at the Tean International Tennis Tournament held at the Alphense Tennisclub. The 26-year-old German won the singles as well as the doubles competition of the €42,500 ATP Challenger event.
Struff upset top seed and local hero Robin Haase on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-4, 6-1. The world number 78 saved both break points he faced, converting three of his own to secure victory in 64 minutes. Struff won his first singles title of the season and his fourth ATP Challenger career title.
The third seed takes away €6,150 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.
On Saturday, the right hander from Warstein teamed up with fellow German Daniel Masur to beat the all-Dutch-combination of Robin Haase and Boy Westerhof in the doubles final 6-4, 6-1. The encounter lasted 51 minutes.
Ewijk Wins Women’s event
In the women’s $10,000 ITF Pro Circuit event, Chayenne Ewijk emerged victorious from the all-Dutch-affair with Suzan Lamens 7-5, 7-5. The 26-year-old top seed clinched her second title of the season.
