Michael Linzer is the champion of the Orlando Professional Tennis Series, a $15,000 USTA Pro Circuit clay-court men’s event held at the new USTA National Campus at Lake Nona in Orlando. The 27-year-old top seed from Austria eased past Facundo Arguello of Argentina in Sunday’s final, winning 6-3, 6-0.
Linzer won 78 per cent of his first service point and broke serve five times to secure victory in one hour and 25 minutes. The World No. 306 captured his 19th career singles title on the ITF Pro Circuit, his first on US-American soil.
Linzer takes away $2,160 in prize money as well as 27 ATP Ranking points. He will stay in Florida, trying to continue his run on the ITF clay court swing at the Kiwi Pro Tennis Classic, held in Indian Harbour Beach next week.
