BINGHAMTON, July 30, 2017

The singles final of the 24th Levene Gouldin & Thompson Tennis Challenger is set. Top seed Jordan Thompson will take on unseeded Cameron Norrie on Sunday.

Thompson had to fight hard in Saturday’s semi-final in Binghamton, rallying from a set down to end the dream week of college star William Blumberg, who appeared in his first ATP Challenger main draw. The World No. 79 from Australia saved four of the six break points he faced, converting four of his own to seal a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory in two hours and 14 minutes.

While Blumberg is aiming to continue building on his success this summer by playing more Challenger tournaments in the automn, Thompson moves on to face Norrie in the title match of the $75,000 ATP Challenger event.

Norrie eased past US-American Christian Harrison 6-2, 6-2. The 21-year-old leftie from Great Britain sent down four aces, winning 74 per cent of his first service points to advance after 63 minutes. Norrie earned his second berth in an ATP Challenger Tour final as well as a spot in the qualifying of the 2017 US Open. Norrie and Thompson will meet for the first time.
