Jack Sock battled past Alexander Zverev of Germany 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to advance to the semis of the Nitto ATP Finals. In a topsy turvy encounter on Thursday night in Group Boris Becker, the 25-year-old US-American sent down five aces, winning 71 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 53 minutes.
“I’m playing with house money. I’m going out there and letting loose, having fun, trying to put on a show a little bit, just enjoy my time,” said Sock, who came back from a break down in the final set.
The World No. 9 finishes second in the group and will face Grigor Dimitrov, who won Group Pete Sampras, on Saturday.
Federer Wins Group Boris Becker
Earlier in the day, Roger Federer won his third consecutive match at the O2 in London, dismissing fifth seed Marin Cilic 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 to finish Group Boris Becker play 3-0.
The 36-year-old Swiss fired 16 aces, saved the only break point he faced, converting three of his own to prevail after one hour and 54 minutes.
“I played very well so really happy to be playing at this level right now,” Federer said on court after his 55th Nitto ATP Finals win.
