18-year-old Zsombor Piros of Hungary gets his first top 100 win, beating French veteran Julien Benneteau, currently ranked World No. 56 and top seed at the $75,000 Internationeaux BNP Paribas in Nouméa. The teenager, who qualified for his first ATP Challenger event rallied from a set down to secure a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory.

Piros capitalized on seven of his 13 break point chances, winning 51 per cent of the total points played. He saved two match points in the second set and finished the encounter after one hour and 55 minutes to face US-American Noah Rubin in the second round.

Piros is the reigning Australian Open junior’s singles champion, defeating Israeli Yshai Oliel in the final in Melbourne last year.

He also made headlines at Wimbledon 2017 when he and his doubles partner Yibing Wu were asked to swap their black underpants for white during the boys’ doubles competition in order to comply with the regulations at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Piros is currently ranked on a career high World No. 626.
