Marcel Granollers captured his second ATP Challenger trophy, competing in his second tournament of the season. The 31-year-old Spaniard battled past compatriot Enrique López-Pérez 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 in Sunday’s singles final of the $50,000 Bangkok Open.
Granollers, who also lifted the trophy in Thailand’s capital city last week, struck 12 aces and broke serve six times to prevail after two hours and nine minutes. By making it 10 match wins in a row, the top seed clinched his sixth ATP Challenger career title, taking home $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points. Granollers climbs up 44 spots to No. 133 in the ATP Rankings
López-Pérez appeared in his second ATP Challenger final and was bidding for his maiden crown. The 26-year-old Madrid native earns $4,240 and 48 ATP ranking points.
