SCHWIEBERDINGEN, January 14, 2018

Daniel Masur clinched his second title in Schwieberdingen, winning Sunday’s final of the $15,000 Südwestbank Tennis Grand Prix at the Tennis King Academy against fellow German Kevin Krawietz 6-2, 7-5.

In the pair’s first tour meeting, the 2016 champion capitalized on five of his six break point chances to secure victory in one hour and eight minutes. Masur, who feels comfortable on the fast carpet surface, was happy to lift his first trophy of the new season.

“Winning in doubles and playing a lot of matches in general was helpful to find rhythm. That was great,” Masur was pleased with his performance throughout the week. The 23-year-old finished the singles tournament without dropping a set. Krawietz and Masur are former practice partner at the TennisBase in Oberhaching.

“We know each other very well, so you know what to expect from your opponent but I played well.”

Masur takes home $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points. He will next play at the MLP-Cup in Nussloch. “I hope to collect as many points as possible throughout the next couple of weeks in order to hopefully return to the ATP Challenger Tour very soon.”
