Quentin Halys is the champion of the 8th edition of the Open Quimper Bretagne Occidentale, a €43,000 ATP Challenger event held at the Parc des Expos in Quimper. The No. 5 seed from France edged past Alexey Vatutin of Russia 6-3, 7-6 in Sunday’s singles final.
Halys fired 16 aces, winning 84 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 19 minutes. The 21-year-old lifted his second ATP Challenger trophy following his triumph in Tallahassee 2016. Halys earns €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking poinst, reaching a new career high World No. 102 on Monday.
Earlier in the day, British top seeds Ken and Neal Skupski clinched the doubles title. The siblings outlasted Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen from Belgium 6-3, 3-6, 10-7. The final lasted one hour and 12 minutes.
The ATP Challenger Tour will return to Brittany with the €43,000 event in Cherbourg in two weeks.
