Denis Kudla lost in the second round of the $100,000 Kunal Patel San Francisco Open on Wednesday. The No. 4 seed from the United States fell to Dominik Koepfer of Germnay 6-7, 3-6.

In the pair’s second meeting, Koepfer gained his first victory over the 25-year-old Tampa native, as he struck eight aces, winning 76 per cent of his first service points to advance in one hour and 28 minutes. He will next take on Bradley Klahn, who rallied past fellow US-American Mitchell Krueger 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 19 minutes.

Michael Mmoh also emerged victorious from an all-US-American-encounter, winning 6-4, 6-4 against Christopher Eubanks. The tournament’s No. 3 from Florida was in control of the match, didn’t face a break point, capitalizing on two of his own to prevail after 64 minutes.

Next up for Mmoh will be Serbian teenager Miomir Kecmanovic, who defeated qualifier JC Aragone from the United States 6-4, 7-6. The 18-year-old knocked out No. 8 seed Brayden Schnur of Canada in the opening round and clinched his maiden ATP Challenger title in Sozhou in October last year. Following his quarterfinal appearances in Newport Beach and Dallas, Kecmannovic reaches the stage of the final eight at ATP Challenger level for the third consecutive time this season.
