Benchetrit Triumphs At Djerba Open

French teenager Elliot Benchetrit is the champion of the third edition of the Djerba Open 2018, the sixth men’s $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit event held on Tunisian soil this season held on hard court at Hotel Djerba Sun Club.

The 19-year-old defeated compatriot and qualifier Matteo Martineau 6-3, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final. Benchetrit capitalized on three of his four break point opportunities and outpointed his opponent 62-43 to prevail after one hour and 15 minutes.

The No. 2 seed from Nice clinched his third ITF Futures career trophy, earning $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.

On Saturday, Alen Avidzba of Russia and Matteo Martineau took the doubles title. The pair edged past No. 3 seeds Michal Dembek of Poland and Danylo Kalenichenko from Ukraine 7-6, 6-7, 11-9 in the final. The encounter lasted one hour and 40 minutes.
