Diego Schwartzman recorded his 25th match win of the season by beating German qualifier Daniel Masur 6-2, 6-2 on a sunny and hot Wednesday afternoon in Hamburg to book a place in the quarterfinals of the German Tennis Championships presented by Kampmann.

The No. 2 seed of Argentina saved all six break points he faced, converting four of his own to advance in one hour and 20 minutes.

Schwartzman will next take on fellow Argentine Leonardo Mayer. The two-time Rothenbaum champion edged past Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-1, 7-5. Mayer won 60 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 20 minutes.

Brazilian lucky loser Thiago Monteiro, who made it into the semis in Quito earlier this year, advanced to his second quaterfinal of the season. The World No. 146 knocked out eighth seeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Monteiro sent down six aces, winning 70 per cent of his first service points to prevail after two hours and 12 minutes.

Next up for Monteiro will be Jozef Kovalik. The Slovakian qualifier cruised past German teenager Rudolf Molleker 6-4, 6-0. Kovalik, who finished runner-up at the ATP Challenger in Braunschweig two weeks ago, was in total control and finished the encounter after only 52 minutes without facing a break point.
