KNOXVILLE, November 10, 2018
With Reilly Opelka and Bjorn Fratangelo two US-Americans will go head to head in Sunday’s singles championship match of the Knoxville Challenger. Opelka edged past Nikola Milojevic of Serbia 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-finals.
The No. 8 seed of the $75,000 hard-court event fired 18 aces, winning 90 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and four minutes. Opelka is seeking his second ATP Challenger Tour title of the season following his triumph in Bordeaux in May.
Earlier in the day, Fratangelo beat compatriot Christopher Eubanks 7-6(4), 6-4. The 25-year-old Pittsburgh native saved four of the five break points he faced, converting two of his own eight opportunities to prevail after one hour and 24 minutes. Fratangelo could also lift his second trophy in 2018, as he clinched the title in Fairfield only one month ago.
Opelka and Fratangelo will meet for the first time.
