MUNICH, April 26, 2019
Last year’s Munich semi-finalist Maximilian Marterer and 18-year-old Rudolf Molleker have been awarded the final two wild cards into the main draw of this year’s BMW Open by FWU. This was announced by tournament director Patrik Kühnen during a press conference held at the venue of the MTTC Iphitos on Friday morning.
“We wanted to set an example, giving a chance to young German players,” Kühnen as well as organizers Michael Mronz explained their decision.
One day ahead of the start of the ATP 250 tournament, top seed and two-time defending champion Alexander Zverev competed in a celebrity doubles match alongside German fashion model and television host Lena Gercke, taking on Sascha’s brother Mischa and Patrik Kühnen on Centre Court.
