Fabio Fognini, 2016 champion, leads the field at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag, an ATP 250 clay-court event. The 32-year-old Italian broke into the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings last month, becoming the oldest player to join the elite group for the first time since 1973 and only the third Italian.

Second seed Borna Coric, a two-time ATP Tour titlist, will lead the home country’s hopes. Rio Open presented by Claro champion Laslo Djere, Serbian Dusan Lajovic and defending champion Marco Cecchinato of Italy round out the top five seeds.

Swedish Open in Bastad

Top seed Cristian Garin leads the way at the Swedish Open in Bastad, where he will be attempting to lift his third clay-court ATP Tour title of the season. The 23-year-old Chilean, who has risen 50 positions in the ATP Rankings this year, will be making his main-draw debut at the event after two qualifying appearances in 2014 and 2018.

Garin is joined in the draw by two-time finalist Fernando Verdasco and 2014 winner Pablo Cuevas. Former champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas could meet Verdasco, in a repeat of the 2016 championship match, in the second round. Last year’s runner-up Richard Gasquet completes the top four seeding positions.

Final week on the grass in Newport

Defending champion Steve Johnson returns to the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island, seeking his fifth ATP Tour crown. The 29-year-old, who has lifted three of his four tour-level trophies on home soil, is joined in the draw by former champions John Isner and Ivo Karlovic.

Top seed Isner is bidding to lift a record fourth title at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, where he shares the Open Era titles record with fellow three-time champion Vijay Amritraj. Libema Open finalists Adrian Mannarino and Jordan Thompson will also be aiming to end their grass-court seasons with further success.
