By lifting his third ATP Challenger career trophy, his first since Buenos Aires three years ago, Olivo collected in the Italian coastal city €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
Following a successful 2017 season, Olivo considered hanging up his racquet after he fell outside the Top 500 of the ATP Rankings on year later.
“I was close to stopping, but mentally I came out of it,” said Olivo, as quoted on the ATP Challenger website. “And I’m ready to start again.”
On Saturday, Ivan and Matej Sabanov of Croatia won the doubles title. The unseeded duo defeated the tournament’s fourth favourites Sergio Galdos and Juan Pablo Varillas from Peru 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. The encounter lasted one hour and 32 minutes.
