Three Top 100 players will headline the action at the Sparkasse Challenger Val Gardena Südtirol hosted at the Tennis Club Ortisei next week. No. 1 seed Stefano Travaglia will open his title bid at the €46,600 ATP Challenger event after a first-round bye against the winner of the all-Italian encounter between Matteo Viola and Andrea Pellegrino. The World No. 86 from Italy is seeking his third Challenger title of the season following his triumphs on home soil in Francavilla and Sopot, Poland.
Teen sensation Jannik Sinner will be the tournament’s second favourite. The 18-year-old from South Tyrol, who advanced to the title match of the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, will start his home event against either Lucas Miedler from Austria or local favourite Gian Marco Moroni. Sinner will finish his incredible season in Ortisei and could lift his third trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour. The World No. 95 will play his first singles match on Wednesday evening but will already open his doubles competition on Tuesday.

Salvatore Caruso, champion of the Sanchez-Casal Challenger in Barcelona last month, will oppose the winner of the all-German affair between Julian Lenz and Daniel Masur. The No. 3 seed from Italy is currently ranked World No. 97 and is bidding for his third ATP Challenger career title.
A total of 20 Italians can be found in the 48-man main draw. Wild cards have been awarded to 2019 Australian Open boys’ singles titlist Lorenzo Musetti amongst others. The 17-year-old will take on Benjamin Hassan of Germany in the first round. The champion in Ortisei will earn €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
