While the international tennis circuit is suspended at least until July 31 due to ongoing the coronavirus pandemic, Novak Djokovic will set up a series of tournaments in the Balkan region. The World No. 1 will organize the so called Adria Tour, which will kick off in Belgrade, Serbia on June 13 and end on July 5 with an exhibition match between Djokovic and Damir Dzumhur in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina.
The other events are scheduled for the Croatian Adriatic resort of Zadar (June 20 to 21), Montenegro (June 27 to 28) and Banja Luka (July 3 to 4) in northern Bosnia.
Djokovic, who celebrated his 33rd birthday on Friday, will be joined by Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, Austria’s Dominic Thiem and Viktor Troicki of Serbia. Other players to be announced.
Matches will be played in a round-robin format with two groups of four. In case the presence of spectators is allowed, tickets will be available for two sessions per day. Funds will go to humanitarian projects in the region. All matches will be broadcast on Sportklub TV channels.
