Goran Ivanisevic has been named tournament director of the Adria Tour in Zadar. The exhibition series to be held in the Balkan region has been set up by World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, kicking off in Belgrade, Serbia on June 13 and will end on July 5 in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovins. The other events are scheduled for the Croatian Adriatic resort of Zadar (June 20 to 21), Montenegro (June 27 to 28) and Banja Luka (July 3 to 4) in northern Bosnia.

Ivanisevic revealed that the tournament in Zadar will be played on clay. “We were ready for hard court, but Novak’s team still decided for clay. We are waiting for the final confirmation of the number of fans that will be allowed. A stadium for 9,000 people will be put up this week, and I hope that half of that capacity will be allowed for the crowd to see the best players in the world,” the 2001 Wimbledon champion told NovaTV, quoted by Croatiaweek.com.

“This is an opportunity to show the world Zadar and Croatia in a beautiful light, as a ‘corona-free’ country and to attract tourists. Zadar has proved to be not only a basketball city but also a tennis city when it organised two Davis Cup matches incredibly. I have no doubt that this organisation will go well and that all our guests and tennis players who come from abroad be extremely pleased,” Ivanisevic said.

Croatia’s best players, Marin Cilic and Borna Coric will be part of the line-up in Zadar, whilst some players confirmed for the Adria Tour include Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, Dusan Lajovic, Filip Krajinovic and Viktor Troicki.
