Eastern European Championship Heading Into Final Two Weeks

STARNBERG, July 14, 2020

The Eastern European Championship, held at the Tipsarevic Tennis Academy in Belgrade, is heading into its final two weeks. The tournament started on June 15 with back-to-back men’s singles events.

During the past two weeks the ladies were in action headlined by the likes of World No. 91 Danka Kovinic from Montenegro, 228th-ranked Ivana Jorovic of Serbia as well as  Viktoriya Tomova and Isabella Shinikova from Bulgaria.

All matches were played on hard court without spectators. The surface will also be used for the remaining days of the international tennis exhibition featuring another men’s line-up this week. The field is led by World No. 72 Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania, who practiced on the courts with Serbia’s World No. 1 Novak Djokovic last weekend.

The 13-time ATP Challenger Tour champion will be joined by Ergi Kirkin from Turkey, a winner of two ITF World Tennis Tour events on home soil in Antalya last year, World No. 539 Alexander Lazarov of Bulgaria, Marko Tepavac of Serbia, who lifted four trophies on the ITF World Tennis Tour in 2019 as well as Aldin Setkic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who reached a career-high ranking of World No. 165 in October 2017.
