The final tournament of the Tannenhof Resort German Men’s Series kicked off on a sunny Tuesday at the Tennis Club Großhesselohe. Maximilian Marterer and Oscar Otte won their opening matches in the round-robin group stage.
Marterer came back from a set and a break down to outlast Yannick Hanfmann 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 after almost three hours of play. “I had a good start into the match,” said Marterer, who had to go the distance for the first time at the DTB German Pro Series. “Conditions were not easy, as it was pretty hot out there today. I handled his strong serve well, returned well and stayed focused. Overall, it was good performance.”

Later in the afternoon, Otte fought past top seed Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, winning 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. “The
last time I played here was at the ATP Challenger two years ago. The venue is very nice,” Cologne native Otte said. “I arrived here two days ago to get used to the conditions. We had a couple of ups and downs in our match today but I am pleased with the outcome.”
