SANTO DOMINGO, December 19, 2015
Sekou Bangoura captured the Parque del Este title in Santo Domingo, in the third of three US-$15,000 ITF Future events taking place in the Dominican Republic.
The world number 327 from the United States, currently ranked on a career high, defeated Facundo Mena from Argentina in Saturday’s final between the tournament’s two top-seeds. Bangoura withstood seven aces and capitalized on five of his twelve break point chances to seal a 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory in two hours and 50 minutes.
Bangoura claimed his first title of the season, his third overall and first ever outside the United States. The 24-year-old collects 27 ATP ranking points.
The doubles competition was won by fourth seeded pair of Keith-Patrick Crowley and Max Schnur, who beat first seeds Mateo Nicolas Martinez and Luis Patino 7-6, 6-2.
