The top two seeds of the Tennis Challenger Hamburg presented by Tannenhof are through to the quarterfinals. No. 1 seed Kamil Majchrzak defeated birthday boy Yannick Maden from Germany, who became 31 on Wednesday, 6-4, 6-4.
The World No. 105 from Poland sent down eight aces and won 77 per cent of his first-service points to advance in one hour and 45 minutes. Up next for Majchrzak will be No. 7 seeded Serbian Nikola Milojevic, who overcame Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov 7-6(5), 6-1.
In the bottom half of the draw, No. 2 seed Taro Daniel rallied from a set down to beat German wild card entry Maximilian Marterer 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The 27-year-old converted six of his 13 break-point chances to secure victory in two hours and 13 minutes. Daniel will next face No. 6 seed Henri Laaksonen from Switzerland.
In first-round action, Oscar Otte edged past in-form Marc-Andrea Huesler, who lifted his third Challenger career trophy at the Wolffkran Open in Ismaning last Sunday. The 27-year-old German outpointed his opponent 64-45 to prevail 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and six minutes. Otte will next oppose compatriot Cedrik-Marcel Stebe.
