Rublev, Fucsovics Reach Rotterdam Final

ROTTERDAM/STARNBERG, March 6, 2021

No. 4 seed Andrey Rublev and Hungarian qualifier Marton Fucsovics will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam. Rublev defeated the tournament’s No. 2 Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece 6-3, 7-6(2) on Saturday afternoon.

The World No. 8 from Russia struck 34 winners, including 24 on his forehand side, to reach the championship match after one hour and 37 minutes.

“[I play tennis] to play at the best level, to play at the best tournaments, to try to compete, then to go deep and to try to win them,” Rublev said during his on-court interview. “A final is always special, so I am going to try to do my best tomorrow.”

Fucsovics produced a dominant performance to defeat Borna Coric of Croatia 6-4, 6-1 to reach his first title match at ATP 500 level after one hour and 52 minutes.

“I am very happy. [This is the] first ATP 500 final in my career,” Fucsovics said in an on-court interview. “[I came from] qualifying. All the week, I was playing very solid and serving well. I am enjoying this week.”
