Former college player and current World No. 367 Michael Geerts from Belgium leads the field of the TVM Open 2021 by TeReMeer. The ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event is being held from May 9 to 16 at the venue of the Rot-Weiss Troisdorf e.V. in the South-East of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Twenty-six-year-old Geerts, who will open his title bid against a qualifier, will be joined by his countrymen Gauthier Onclin and No. 7 seed Yannick Mertens.
Fanselow leads strong German contingent
The tournament’s second favourite Sebastian Fanselow, who played college tennis for Pepperdyne University, will oppose German wild card entry Maximilian Dietel. Dietel’s seeded compatriots Elmar Ejupovic (No. 4) and Louis Wessels (No. 5) will both meet qualifiers in the first round.
Of special interest will be the all-German opener between No. 6 seed Lucas Gerch and top junior Max Rehberg. The 17-year-old will represent Germany at the upcoming junior Grand Slam tournaments.
The champion of the tournament, which is part of the DTB Internationals powered by Wilson, will earn 10 ATP Ranking points. Main draw match will kick off Tuesday and will be shown via the official ITF-Livestream.
