PROSTEJOV, June 19, 2021

Federico Coria of Argentina is the champion of the Moneta Czech Open hosted by TK Agrofert Prostejov in the Czech Republic. The No. 4 seed of the € 88,520 ATP Challenger clay-court tournament defeated Alex Molcan from Slovakia 7-6(1), 6-3 in Saturday’s singles final.

Coria advanced to the title match with wins over Dutch lucky loser Jelle Sels, Russia’s Andrey Kuznetsov, Blaz Rola of Slovenia and local favourite Zdenek Kolar.

The World No. 103, who reached the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 Belgrade Open last month, converted four of his five break-point opportunities in the championship match and secured victory in one hour  and 44 minutes.

By lifting his second ATP Challenger career trophy following his maiden triumph at the 2019 Savannah Challenger in the United States, Coria took away from Prostejov €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.

Nedovyesov/Oliveira win first team title

On Friday, Aleksandr Nedovyesov from Kazakhstan and Portuguese Goncalo Oliveira clinched the doubles title. The top seeds rallied past No. 3 seeds Roman Jebavy and Zdenek Kolar from the Czech Republic 1-6, 7-6(5), 10-6. The final lasted one hour and 30 minutes.

By winning their first team title Nedovyesov and Oliveira split €5,200 in prize money and earn 100 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
