Carlos Taberner captured his third ATP Challenger Tour career title by lifting the trophy at the Open Pays D’Aix CEPAC hosted by the Country Club Aixois in Aix-en-Provence, France. The 23-year-old Spaniard cruised past Frenchman Manuel Guinard, who appeared in his first title match, 6-2, 6-2 in Sunday’s singles final of the €132,280 tournament, one of the signature clay-court events on the calendar.
No. 6 seed Taberner advanced to the championship match with wins over Alexey Vatutin of Russia, local wild card Arthur Cazaux, Argentine Renzo Olivo and French wild card entry Kyrian Jacquet. The Valencia native broke Guinard’s serve four times to seal victory in just under one hour of play.

By winning his second title of the season after Antalya, Turkey in early February, Taberner collected in Southern France €18,290 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points.
Frenchmen win doubles title
On Saturday, Frenchmen Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul took the doubles title. The No. 4 seeds battled past No. 3 seeded US-Americans Robert Galloway and Alex Lawson 6-7(4), 7-5, 10-4. The final lasted one hour and 50 minutes.
