Daniil Medvedev leads the way at the Western & Southern Open, where he is the top seed. The 25-year-old Russian star has fond memories of Cincinnati, where he lifted his first ATP Masters 1000 trophy two years ago.
Second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece made the Toronto semi-finals last week, and he will try to carry that momentum into this event. Germany’s Alexander Zverev, who won the gold medal in singles at the Tokyo Olympics, is set to begin his North American hard-court swing in Ohio. Two-time champion Andy Murray from Great Britain is also in the field.
In the doubles draw, top seeds Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic will attempt to add to the nine titles they have won this year. The team that beat the Croatians for the Toronto trophy, Rajeev Ram from the United States and Briton Joe Salisbury, are the fourth seeds.
