Thompson Claims Maiden Challenger Title In Cherbourg

CHERBOURG, February 29, 2016

Jordan Thompson claimed his first ATP Challenger title, winning the final of the €42,500 event in Cherbourg against Adam Pavlasek 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The sixth seed from Australia fired nine aces and capitalized on five of his eight break point chances to seal victory in one hour and 41 minutes.

Thompson earns €6,150 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points reaching a new career high 123 position.

“It feels great to have won my first Challenger title. I’m really pumped. The Top 100 is my goal for sure,” he said.

Top-seeds Ken and Neil Skupski claimed their second doubles title of the year, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 against Yoshihito Nishioka and Aldin Setkic in one hour and 11 minutes.
