Alejandro Tabilo of Chile captured his maiden crown on the ATP Challenger Tour by winning the $52,080 Challenger Ciudad de Guayaquil Copa Banco Guayaquil presented by CNT, hosted by the Anexo Guayaquil Tenis Club.
The World No. 169 defeated Jesper de Jong from the Netherlands in Sunday’s singles final 6-1, 7-5. Tabilo, who edged out the tournament’s top seed Jaume Munar in the opening round, capitalized on six of his 10 break-point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 20 minutes.

“I was focused from the beginning. After that match (with Munar) I continued with the same mentality and I am happy with this level,” said Tabilo. “My coach and I planned an almost perfect strategy for today. I had to be very aggressive, going to the net a lot. Having started very solid helped a lot and I became more confident.”
Following three title wins on the ITF World Tennis Tour, Tabilo lifted his maiden Challenger trophy. The Santiago resident took away from Ecuador $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
For the first time since 2003, three Chileans have won #ATPChallenger titles in a season.
