SAN LUIS POTOSI/STARNBERG, April 17, 2022
World No. 488 Antoine Bellier came back from a set down and knocked out San Luis Open BMW defending champion and No. 6 seed Marc-Andrea Huesler 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach his first singles final on the ATP Challenger Tour.
In an all Swiss-affair on a hot Saturday at the Club Deportivo Potosino with temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius, Bellier withstood 16 aces and broke his compatriot’s serve three times to prevail after one hour and 55 minutes.
“I am one more Swiss, now I am going to rest and I hope to see you all tomorrow,” Bellier told the crowd after the match.
The 25-year-old qualifier from Geneva will play Renzo Olivo of Argentina for the title. The eighth seed defeated the tournament’s No. 2 Nicolas Jarry from Chile 6-3, 6-2. Olivo saved all five break points he faced and converted three of his seven own break-point chances to advance after one hour and 29 minutes.

Thirty-year-old Olivo could clinch his fourth ATP Challenger career crown, his first since San Benedetto, Italy in 2019. The World No. 192 and Bellier will meet for the first time.
