FORLI/STARNBERG, May 24, 2022
Seven Top 100 players are scheduled to compete in the Forli Open. The €134,920 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court tournament will be held from May 29 to June 5 at the Cooperativa Tennis Villa Carpena in Forli, a municipality and city in Emilia-Romagna, Northern Italy.
The entry list is led by two Spaniards: World No. 85 Carlos Taberner and 87th-ranked Jaume Munar. Taberner will bid for his sixth ATP Challenger career title, his second of the season following his triumph at the Regione Abruzzo Aterno Gas & Power Cup I in March. Mallorca native Munar was successful at the Andalucia Open in Marbella earlier this season and could lift his eighth Challenger trophy. Veterans Fernando Verdasco from Spain and home favourite Andreas Seppi will also be part of the line-up.
It will mark the sixth time this year that the ATP Challenger Tour will return to Forli. Luca Nardi from Italy, Pavel Kotov of Russia and three-time champion Jack Draper from Great Britain were the winners at the five previous editions. Next week’s tournament will be the first one of the highest category on the Challenger Circuit and the first one to be held outdoors on clay.
