“I am very pleased with my performance to today. I played a solid match,” Barroso Campos said afterwards and thanked the people, who came out to support him.

The World No. 445, champion of two titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour this season, will next take on No. 6 Altug Celikbilek. The 25-year-old Turkish cruised past Czech qualifier Marek Gengel 6-1, 6-1 in only 48 minutes.

In other action, Constant Lestienne booked his spot in the quarterfinals following a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 win over Jason Jung of Chines Taipei. The fourth favourite from France saved all three break points he faced and capitalized on four of his own nine break-point chances to prevail after one hour and nine minutes.

“I played better than in the first round,” Lestienne said. “I am feeling good. It’s my first tournament on hard court and it is a bit tough to play during the day here as it is very hot.”

Up next for Lestienne will be Steven Diez of Canada, who beat Italy’s Roberto Marcora 6-3, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 18 minutes.
