M25 Poprad SVK – Louis Wessels victorious in the High Tatras 

Louis Wessels was crowned champion at the Poprad Tatry Open 2022, hosted by Tennis Areal Poprad.

The 23-year-old German knocked off Czech No. 8 seed Patrik Rikl in the stage of the final four in three sets.

Romanian No. 5 seed Stefan Palosi fought through the bottom half of the draw, beating No. 4 seeded Hungarian Gergely Madarasz in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Top seed Wessels gained one break and 10 points more in the title match to acvance 6-4, 6-3 after one hour and 45 minutes. The Bielefeld native lifted his eighth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on clay.

It was a great week for me. I played really solid in all my matches and in the semi-finals I dropped the only set during the tournament after leading 5-0 in the tiebreak on a rainy day,” Wessels told Tennis TourTalk. “I will climb to a new career high of about World No. 265 in the ATP Rankings, so the title win will give me a lot of confidence to go for the next step to enter the qualifying events of the Grand-Slam tournaments”.

M25 Bourg-en-Bresse FRA – Ugo Blanchet triumphs on home soil 

The Grand Prix de Tennis de Bourg-en-Bresse – Open de L’ain, held at Tennis Club de Bourg, concluded with the title win of local hero Ugo Blanchet.

The 23-year-old Frenchman eased past German No. 8 seed Kai Wehnelt, who played college tennis for the Utah State University, in the semi-finals in straight sets.

The tournament’s top favourite Oliver Crawford from the United States booked the spot in the final with a three-set win versus French wildcard entry Timo Legout.

Saint-Julien-en-Genevois-born Blanchet fired 13 aces and gained the only break in the championship match to claim a 6-4, 7-6 win after one hour and 42 minutes. The No. 3 seed celebrated his third singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M25 Dallas USA – Yu Hsiou Hsu prevails in Texas

Yu Hsiou Hsu claimed the trophy of the Dallas Tennis Series presented by RBC Wealth Management, hosted by Styslinger ALTEC Tennis Complex. 

The 23-year-old from Chinese Taipei made the last step to the final by defeating US-American No. 7 seed Omni Kumar in three sets. 

Gabi Adrian Boitan from Romania cruised past Japanese No. 5 seed Sho Shimabukuro in the semi-finals in straight sets.

No. 3 seeded Hsu won 89 per cent of his first-service points in the title match and earned two breaks more to triumph 7-5, 6-3 after one hour and 37 minutes. The Changhwa native, who was ranked World No. 5 as a junior, lifted his eighth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them won on hard court.

M25 Den Haag NED – Daniel Rincon captures back-to-back titles in the Netherlands

Following his maiden championship in Alkmaar last week, junior entry Daniel Rincon emerged victorious at the Tennis Point ITF The Hague 2022, held at Sportcentrum de Rhijenhof.

The 19-year-old Spaniard stopped Dutch wild card entry Michiel de Kroom in the semi-finals in two sets.

No. 2 seed Jelle Sels won the all-Dutch semifinal-battle against Deney Wassermann in three sets.

Left-handed Rincon sent down 10 aces in the title match and won 12 points more to seal victory with 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 after two hours and 29 minutes. The Madrid native, who clinched the title of the US Open Junior Championships and was ranked junior’s World No. 2 last season, celebrated his second singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M25 Bakio ESP – Dominik Palan succeeds in Basque country 

Dominik Palan earned the title of the 37° Open Kiroleta Bakio Udala Saria, hosted by Club Kiroleta, with all of his matches going the distance.

The Czech No. 4 seed battled through the top half of the draw, beating Alex Martinez from Spain in the semi-finals. 

Spanish No. 2 seed Alejandro Moro Canas battled past former junior’s World No. 4 Dali Blanch from the United States in the stage of the last four in three sets.

Lasting exact three hours with both players scoring 113 points, Hodonin-born Palan gained one break more in the title match to prevail 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. The 21-year-old lifted his second career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour following his maiden title win in Doha last season.

M15 Bern SUI – Michael Vrbensky clinches another trophy on clay 

The Linkyard Bern Open by Rado, held at Tennis Sporting Club Bern, concluded with the title win of Michael Vrbensky. 

The 22-year-old Czech advanced to the final with a straight-set win versus Swiss No. 5 seed Mirko Martinez. 

German No. 2 seed Sebastian Prechtel, who is based at the AHM Tennis Academy of former tennis professional Andreas Haider Maurer, edged out Stefano Battaglino from Italy in the semi-finals in two sets.

Top seed Vrbensky won 86 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival in the championship match four times and lost only one service game to seal a 6-2, 6-3 victory in 85 minutes. The Nymburk native celebrated his fifth singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, all of them achieved on clay.

M15 Wroclaw POL – Maks Kasnikowski wins maiden title on home soil

Teenager Maks Kasnikowski is the champion of the Betard Cup 2022, hosted by Olimpijski Club Tennis and Sports. 

The 18-year-old eased past his No. 4 seeded fellow Polish Maciej Rajski in the stage of the final four in straight sets.

No. 3 seed Petr Nouza emerged victorious from the all-Czech semifinal-encounter against Vaclav Safranek in three sets.

Warszawa-born Kasnikowski withstood 10 aces from his 23-year-old rival in the title match and earned 12 points more to succeed 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in two hours and 22 minutes. The No. 3 seed lifted his first trophy on the Pro Circuit.

M15 Belgrade SRB – Duje Kekec returns to winners’ circle 

Duje Kekec emerged victorious at the Player Zone Tennis Academy Open 2022, held at Tennis Club Red Star. 

The 29-year-old from Croatia eased past Rrezart Cungu from Montenegro in the semi-finals in two sets.

Romanian No. 5 seed Nicolae Frunza took the last step to the final by defeating No. 7 seeded Aleksandre Metreveli from Georgia in straight sets.

In the championship match with both players gaining three breaks, unseeded Kekec won one point less but secured a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 win after two hours and 39 minutes. The Split-born celebrated his fifth singles title on the ITF World Tennis Tour and his first since 2015.

M15 Monastir TUN – Terence Atmane captures back-to-back titles

Left-handed Terence Atmane clinched another the trophy at the Magic Hotel Tours tournament, hosted by Hotel Skanes Family in Monastir.

In the all-French semi-finals, the 20-year-old fought past No. 7 seed Enzo Wallart in three sets.

Cyril Vandermeersch booked his second consecutive spot in the final with a straight-set win against Mathieu Scaglia.

No. 3 seeded Atmane converted all of his four break-point opportunities in the title match without dropping a service-game to claim a 6-2, 6-2 victory in 79 minutes. Following his maiden title win at the same place last week, the Boulogne-Sur-Mer native lifted his second career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
