PARMA/STARNBERG, September 14, 2022
Following the Emilia-Romagna Tennis Cup, held in Montechiarugolo in June, the ATP Challenger Tour will return to the Province of Parma for a second time this season. The third edition of the Parma Challenger presented by Iren and organized by MEF Tennis Events is scheduled for October 3 to 9. The €134,920 clay-court tournament will be hosted by the Tennis Club Parma.
Four Top 100 players headline the entry list led by World No. 58 Pedro Cachin. The 27-year-old Argentine has captured four ATP Challenger Tour titles this season and is seeking his sixth career trophy, his second on Italian soil following his triumph in Todi in July 2022. Roberto Carballes Baena of Spain, recent champion of the Copa Sevilla, Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina and Serbian Dusan Lajovic round out the projected Top 4 seeds in Northern Italy.
The list of home favourites include Francesco Passaro, Marco Cecchinato, Giulio Zeppieri, Gianluca Mager, Andrea Pellegrino and Riccardo Bonadio.
“I’m happy, I already know that it will be a well organized tournament in a beautiful club,” Zeppieri stated in a press release and is looking forward to the event. “There will be many Italians on the court and I expect a good atmosphere. I want to play my tennis and if I can push myself to the maximum I know that I can experience a beautiful week.”
One week ahead of the men’s tournament the second edition of the Parma Ladies Open WTA 250 event will be staged at the same club.
