Max Hans Rehberg from Germany has clinched his first title on the Pro Circuit. He lifted the trophy of the Internationaux de Forbach 2022 without dropping a set on Sunday. The ITF World Tennis Tour M15 indoor carpet event was held at the venue of US Forbach Tennis in France.

Following an opening first-round win against local player Cyril Vandermeersch, the World No. 687 rallied past his compatriot and No. 5 seed Johannes Haerteis, 7-6 (3), 6-2.

Then, the 19-year-old, Rehberg knocked out the tournament’s top favourite Jerome Kym from Switzerland in the quarterfinals. The teenager withstood 10 aces from his rival of the same age and scored two points more to prevail 7-6 (6), 7-6 (1), in two hours and 16 minutes.

After beating French wild card entry Boris Fassbender in the semifinals 6-2, 7-5, the unseeded Rehberg opposed No. 7 seed Federico Agustin Gomez in the championship match. The 25-year-old Argentinian booked his spot in the final with a straight-set win against Alex Knaff from Luxembourg 7-6 (6), 6-3. In the final, the Landsham-resident Rehberg converted all of his three break-point chances and didn’t lose a service game to succeed 6-4, 6-2 in 69 minutes.

It a special feeling, finishing a tournament with a victory,” the Munich-born Rehberg told Tennis TourTalk afterwards.

“At the beginning of the competition, I struggled a little bit with a flu. It went better match by match and it helped me that the rallies on carpet are much shorter. I served pretty well during the tournament and had the big moments on my side. After one week off, I will compete in the main draws of the German indoor Challenger swing at the Wolffkran by Tannenhof in Ismaning, which is also held on carpet, followed by the Challenger Hamburg on hard court.

Rehberg, who practices at the TennisBase Oberhaching situated in the South of Munich, earned $2,160 in prize money as well as 15 ATP Ranking points to enter the Top 600 for the first time.
