ROTTERDAM, November 1, 2022
The winner of the 2022 ABN AMRO Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime, will return to Rotterdam next year to defend his title. The Canadian, currently ranked World No. 8, captured his first ATP Tour title at the Ahoy Arena. Meanwhile, after wins in Florence, Antwerp and Basel, he already has four tournament victories to his name.
Tournament Director Richard Krajicek said: “Felix Auger-Aliassime is a player who fits exactly with the philosophy of the ABN AMRO Open. At a young age he made his debut as a top talent. Later he fulfilled that promise with great performances. The fact that he is now in the Top 10 of the world is no surprise.”
Top talent Auger-Aliassime
The 22-year-old Montreal native had his breakthrough season in 2019, when he managed to reach the Top 100. In no time, Auger-Aliassime headed toward the world’s best 20 players. He became the youngest Top 25 player since Lleyton Hewitt. By reaching the semi-finals of the 2021 US Open, he took another step toward the top.
