TENERIFE/STARNBERG, December 26, 2023

The ATP Challenger Tour is returning to Tenerife with three tournaments scheduled to take place at the Abama Tennis Academy in Guía de Isora and organized by MEF Tennis Events. The first ATP Challenger 100 hard-court event is set to run from January 14 to January 21, 2024, followed by two ATP Challenger 75 tournaments from February 18 to February 25 and from February 26 to March 3, 2024.

The entry list for the first tournament has been released and is led by World No. 100 Quentin Halys from France, who will bid for his eighth ATP Challenger career crown in the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands. Pedro Martinez, Pablo Llamas Ruiz and Daniel Rincon are part of the Spanish contingent. Twenty-year-old Jordanian Abdullah Shelbayh, who practices at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, as well as the last two champions of the Next Gen ATP Finals, Brandon Nakashima from the United States and Serbian Hamad Medjedovic will also be part of the line-up.

“It’s always a gem to kick off a new season with three tournaments in Tenerife, just like it happened at the beginning of 2023. These events strengthen our bond with the island and provide an opportunity to closely witness champions and young talents,” said Marcello Marchesini, president of MEF Tennis Events.

“The collaboration between MEF Tennis Events and the Abama Tennis Academy continues to grow stronger. The consistent organization of important events facilitated new enhancements for the areas surrounding the courts, making the club even more equipped. We are thrilled about our partnership with Abama, which will introduce new services at their club. This year, there will be a covered restaurant for the players (Tágara Restaurant), along with a new area behind the Centre Court. The environment will become increasingly comfortable for the many fans and tourists who will arrive to witness these three weeks of great tennis.”
