Tuesday at the Hamburg Open was dedicated to the women, with “Ladies’ Day” taking center stage. The highlight was Ana Ivanovic‘s visit to the ATP 500 tournament at the Rothenbaum Tennis Complex. Hundreds of fans gathered in the fan zone in the afternoon to listen to a talk with the 2008 French Open champion.

“It’s super important to support tennis for girls and women. Not just for girls – but for all children. That’s how you create new champions. Children can see great players here who become idols and who they can imitate. A ladies’ day like this is perfect for that,” said Ivanovic and revealed that she started playing tennis because of her idol, Monica Seles.

On Tuesday, she expressed admiration for Serena Williams’ achievements during her career. Today she enjoys watching Aryna Sabalenka.

The 36-year-old Serbian also stated that she really likes Hamburg. “Last November, I was in Hamburg for four days and had one day off. I went for a walk with my baby and went to the botanical garden. It was so beautiful in the city. There were lots of people playing music and just having a good time. It’s a shame I can’t go there again,” Ivanovic said.
