Anastasia Zakharova is the new champion of the Figueira da Foz Ladies Open, an ITF World Tennis Tour W100 tournament organized by the Tennis Club of Figueira da Foz with support from the Portuguese Tennis Federation and the Figueira da Foz City Council.

Playing in the most important final of her career on Sunday, Zakharova wasted no time to defeat Kristina Mladenovic of France 6-2, 6-1 in 75 minutes.

The 22-year-old Russian never felt the pressure and didn’t need to change her playing style to make a difference: staying composed, she was as aggressive as possible and cruised to the title, by far the most significant of the 13 she has won on the ITF Pro Circuit in 15 finals.

“I am very, very happy. I won, I am the champion, and now I have to celebrate,” said Zakharova. “I work very hard for this, and this is my first trophy of this importance, so I am very happy, and so is my family.”
