The inaugural THERME ERDING OPEN 2024 by Tannenhof, an ITF World Tennis Tour W75 tournament in Ismaning, Germany, concluded with a thrilling singles victory by unseeded Swiss Susan Bandecchi. She defeated No. 2 seed and former Wimbledon Junior champion Daria Snigur of Ukraine in Sunday’s singles final of the indoor carpet event, which offered a total prize pool of $60,000.

Snigur tried to dominate the encounter in the beginning. However, Bandecchi, riding high from a recent title win in Loughborough, UK, steadily countered Snigur’s game. Despite dropping the first set in a close tie-break, Bandecchi raised her intensity, equalizing in the second set with aggressive play. The deciding set was a rollercoaster, where both players lost their serves and Bandecchi ultimately prevailed 6-7(8), 6-2, 7-5 after two hours and 30 minutes, securing her biggest career title.

“It was an incredible match, and after match point, I just let my emotions flow,” Bandecchi said. “After narrowly losing the first set, I went to the bathroom to mentally regroup, and from there, I played much better and, above all, more bravely. Right now, I’m simply happy to have won the biggest title of my career here. In 2022, I suffered a serious injury that dropped me far down in the rankings. But I picked myself back up, and winning three tournaments in such a short time shows me that my hard work on the court is paying off.”

With the 75 WTA Ranking points earned, the 26-year-old Ticino is expected to rise about 60 spots, reaching a ranking close to World No. 220. Bandecci claimed her seventh career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour, her third of the season.

The Czech duo of Aneta Laboutkova and Aneta Kucmova captured the doubles title. They defeated Carole Monnet from France and Dutch Isabelle Haverlag 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 in 81 minutes.
