Nava Knocks Out Coria At Punta Del Este Open

Emilio Nava caused a major upset by defeating top-seeded Argentine Federico Coria on Friday at the Punta del Este Open. The US-American secured a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory, powered by a strong first serve, to advance to the semifinals of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 clay-court tournament being held at the Cantegril Country Club in Punta del Este.

Nava will face Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan, the third seed, who overcame Peru’s Gonzalo Bueno with a 7-6(5), 6-4 win. This will mark the first meeting between the two players.

The other semifinal will feature No. 7 seed  Tomás Barrios Vera of Chile against Spain’s Carlos Taberner. Barrios Vera defeated Argentine qualifier Lautaro Midon 6-0, 7-6(6), while Taberner eliminated fifth seed Marco Trungelliti in a hard-fought 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4 match.

The day’s action will kick off at 4:00 PM local time with the doubles final, where Brazil’s Gustavo Heide and Joao Lucas Reis Da Silva will face Argentina’s Facundo Mena and Marco Trungelliti.
