STUTTGART, March 5, 2025
German tennis fans can look forward to another spectacular player at the 2025 BOSS Open, as Ben Shelton will compete at the ATP grass-court tournament in Stuttgart from June 7 to 15. The 22-year-old US-American, currently ranked World No. 12, is the third Top 15 star to confirm his participation at the Tennis Club Weissenhof, joining home favourite Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz from the United States.
The left-hander’s list of achievements already includes two ATP Tour titles—on hard court in Tokyo (2023) and on clay in Houston (2024). Now, only a grass-court triumph is missing, and Shelton could achieve it at the BOSS Open, as his powerful game, featuring serves exceeding 230 km/h, seems tailor-made for the surface.
“The BOSS Open is the perfect tournament to get reacquainted with the unique challenges of playing on grass and to prepare for Wimbledon in the best possible way. I’m looking forward to Stuttgart and coming to the Weissenhof with the goal of playing as many matches as possible,” said Shelton.
Tournament director Edwin Weindorfer is thrilled about the youngster’s participation: “We are excited to welcome Ben Shelton, one of the most electrifying players on the ATP Tour, to the BOSS OPEN. His power and dynamic playing style have been truly impressive, and he is sure to captivate tennis fans in Stuttgart as well.”
Shelton will also compete at the Mallorca Championships, which will take place on grass from June 21 to 28, 2025, in Santa Ponça. This tournament is also organized by the e|motion group.
